FOR LOCAL AUTHORITIES

With 980,000 young people currently not in employment, education or training (NEET), Local Authorities face significant challenges in equipping young people with the employability skills, work experience, confidence and resilience required to progress into sustainable destinations.
Teamworks Hub has worked extensively across multiple Local Authorities, building strong local partnerships and piloting innovative, integrated delivery models to support disadvantaged young people. Our approach enhances engagement for DWP Youth Hubs and Jobcentre Plus, providing a more compelling and structured framework that increases participation and programme completion rates.
Our concept and framework have been developed collaboratively with City Councillors and Officers, DWP and National Careers Service leads, Youth Justice Services, youth offender support organisations, mental health services, SEND and neurodiverse support organisations, Offices of Police and Crime Commissioners, Police Forces, Children in Care teams, Youth Services, charities, third sector partners and FE Colleges. This multi-agency collaboration ensures a holistic, locally responsive model aligned with strategic priorities.
In Birmingham City Council alone, our delivery framework has been piloted seven times in 2025, supporting 350 young people into immediate and measurable destination outcomes including employment, education or accredited training. The programme delivers weekly structured sessions covering goal setting, interview techniques, CV development, teamwork, mental health awareness and financial literacy. Participants also gain access to Springpod’s virtual work experience platform, broadening exposure to a wide range of career pathways.
End-to-end support is embedded throughout the programme, including weekly contact, structured training, participation incentives, and interactive engagement activities such as laser tag and karting. The journey culminates in a Talent Finders Day event, where participants meet employers face-to-face to explore live entry-level opportunities.
Teamworks Hub differs from traditional NEET provision in three key ways:
- Engaging Environment: Delivery takes place in an engaging, non-traditional setting that removes barriers associated with conventional classroom-based provision, increasing initial uptake and sustained participation.
- Extensive Partnerships: Established relationships across public and private sectors enrich programme content and create direct recruitment pathways through our employer-led Talent Finders Day.
- Wider Reach: A substantial opt-in database enables broader outreach and access to participants from across the local catchment area.
Through innovation, collaboration and measurable impact, Teamworks Hub supports Local Authorities to deliver meaningful employment outcomes while strengthening local economic participation.
